What it's all about…
If you're like me, then you're one of those people who, for whatever reason, prefers the West End Games version of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. Alas, however, the D6 Star Wars RPG is no longer being supported, and all future products are going to use the d20 rules system.
This isn't as bad as it sounds if you give it some thought. The folks who are writing the new material are every bit as intelligent and capable as the ones who wrote it before (barring any mention of Gungans – don't get me started). In some cases, the same people who wrote Star Wars for WEG are now writing it for WOTC (for example, Bill Slavicsek, God bless his heart).
When you get right down to brass tacks or neutronite nails, Star Wars will always be the same, and Lucasfilm will always be there to make sure the printed word remains faithful to the original vision. In this case, the only things that have changed are the rules that are used to present this infinite universe.
These rules, however, are not a cage that can bind us. What we here at the Rebellion hope to accomplish is simple: to keep D6 Star Wars alive by converting d20 game data into a form usable by anyone who wishes to continue playing Star Wars with the old system. We'll post it here, free of charge, for anyone who wants to use it in their games.
There is, however, a catch.
Aside from our own original content, what we post here will be basic conversions of game data, and very little else. You'll still need to buy the d20 support material to get the full use of these conversions. Consider that the "dark side" of the bargain, if you will. I know that I'm not the only one out there who will buy products for the new Star Wars RPG with the intent of converting them to the old system. What we at the Rebellion are doing, effectively, is saving those folks the effort of doing these conversions themselves.
In the opening weeks, I expect the site to be pretty sparse. This will change as more conversions are done, and more content is added. Of course, we can't do it alone. If you've got any conversions or material you'd like to submit to this site, by all means drop us a line and let us know. Be warned, though, as we're very discerning about what we choose to put up. Just because we reject a submission doesn't mean it sucks. It just means that it wasn't for us.
Thanks for stopping by, and (as always) may the Force be with you.
