Starships of the Galaxy

This file consists of conversions taken from the Starships of the Galaxy sourcebook for the d20 Star Wars Roleplaying Game.

- Brief Supplement Overview -

Starships of the Galaxy is the first book for the d20 system that is dedicated specifically to starships. Included between the book's covers are d20 statistics for 54 ship types, as well as several variants. A few new feats and four new prestige classes are also presented. There is also extensive information on how to design and build d20 starships, plus new rules for space combat. Interior art consists of some photographs, as well as some illustrations of the newer ships.

Of interest to any GM are tips for running adventures in space, and eight pages of generic starship maps that can be photocopied, cut out, and stuck together. As far as new material, I'm presenting 21 starship conversions in this file. These ships are all new, with a couple of exceptions. Several of the ships presented are unique to specific characters in the Star Wars saga, or are modifications of existing designs. While it is nice to have stats for these ships, they are often times overpowered. I have also included ship stats from the Starships of the Galaxy Web Enhancement, the PDF of which is available on the Wizards of the Coast web site.

The book is perfect bound, and the binding and paper are of good quality. The length of the book is 111 pages. It has a glossy cover, with the interior illustrations and photographs in black and white. My feelings about the book are somewhat ambivalent. I don't hate it, but for some reason I expected more. The cover price is $21.95, though mine was bought on Amazon.com for $15.36.

Should you buy it? The answer is a qualified "maybe." The ships that have seen print in the past cover several different D6 supplements. If you have access to most of them, then this book really isn't that much of a bargain. For those of you without an extensive D6 library, the book would probably be more useful. My one gripe is that over half the pages in the book are dedicated to d20-specific rules, and are not particularly useful to a D6 GM.
